As` of tommorow EDUPOV will stock E-witness POV equipment with the focus on it’s applied use in an education and training context.
The devices themselves are robust and reliable and by all accounts the use of these in the statutory and law enforcement context has also proven their ability to withstand some very rough treatment.
Here are two articles released a little while ago about trials of using E-witness in the broader community:

We’ve been sent via a fellow Colleague at the University of Wollongong a link to both the PublicSphere events and through that I’ve picked up on the AARNET OZEConferences connection which looks promising in many ways for what we are building with StreamFolio.
Here’s a small snippet of what Kate Lundy has to say on the matter.
As always we are keen to connect with any initiative that enables us to grow rich-media learning and to embed our products and service amongst that equation.
As always we are also looking to find some transparency in what matters for small companies like ours to grow.
Likewise we are inspired by initiatives like EarthCam and what live feeds can bring to business who are anxious to attract Clients through their doors.

A close colleague of mine has reported this morning that one of the most progressive and informative resources for educators on the web – the Secondlife In Education wiki is being challenged with;
‘not to use our trademark “Second Life” in your name or website name and not to use “SLeducation” in text or in your domain name…’ and to ‘..make the changes to your website name and domain name as soon as possible and let us know when you expect to have this done…’

Jo Kay has openly used this Wikispaces account as an open way to bring business TO Secondlife and it seems very strange for Linden to now come back with an infringement notice.
I am hoping we can move forward from this issue in a positive way, and will be endeavoring to do just that! I’ll also be working to consolidate my research into a number of other virtual worlds platforms, with a view to diversifying both the wiki and the Islands of Jokaydia’s virtual presence…..”
We support Jo’s positive approach and we look forward to hearing that this fracas in fact has brought Jokaydia the traffic it deserves.
Likewise a JoKaydian OpenSim is looking more and more inviting
The Aftermath : Upskirting

Well….Leigh Blackall has returned home and we are now in full swing to getting the AUPOV 2009 Conference up and running.
Here’s what Leigh had to say on the matter of his visit…
From all accounts all three workshops conducted by Leigh and Geoff were a success in differing degrees and if nothing else it’s spurned people to think a little deeper on the concept of using POV in educational contexts.
Meanwhile Geoff and I are embroiled into discussions about whether there is value in offering any form of recordable media technologies as part of the EDUPOV suite. I’m of the opinion that we should be offering all and sundry whereas Geoff states;
“….geoff: there is no real educational context that justifies the use of something that has as its prime design feature pure covertness.”
What I’m trying to explore is that ANY technology that realizes a positive and appropriate educational outcome deserves to be marketed and showcased. We are not in the position to dictate what people choose to do with the technologies nor could we be held responsible for distributing technology which was used in any number of other myriad of ways that we’d not intended.
Like chewing gum. If we sell it are we then responsible for deposits underside of tables ?
Upskirting ? Swearing in the school yard ? Workplace assessors belittling apprentices in true Aussie style on YouTube ?
Nah…our job is to foster openness.
Let the chickens roam and try not to clip their wings.
