AUPOV10 – The Why Has Become Evident

November 16, 2009 by alexanderhayes · 2 Comments

It’s been a week having returned from the NT MobilizeThis09 event I’m in a state of reflection on what we saw, what we learned and what ways POV serves others as a foundation for a sound educational learning experience.

It’s been an interesting road traveled to bring POV technologies into the education sector over the last year and it’s evident from the following video featuring Roger Bryett that our efforts are beginning underpin a foundation for learning from the first-person perspective.

VideoRoger Bryett

I would embed it right < here > however it would appear that the Flowplayer embed script is corrupting and not allowing the play function….to function !

In a discussion today with Rose Grozdanic from the Australian Flexible Learning Framework it struck home that in fact our mission statement has perhaps become a real account of what others are now saying elsewhere:

“The camera’s themselves are just tools….it’s the learning experience that you guys wrap around the experience of POV that make it a viable resource for training…..”

So,  along with the things we have learned this year and true to the ethos of networked learning and the need to interrogate the value of new technologies as they affect learning & teaching, we  are intent on bridging the networks together again in our second iteration of AUPOV.

The intent of the AUPOV10 is again to bring together a multi-sector, cross-disciplinary, widely sourced industry and practical application showcase of the use of point-of-view video technologies and related industries. The focus of the event is to aggregate knowledge, identify champions who are utilizing the technology as an educational tool and providing opportunities to others to present their findings and ideas in a supportive academic community setting.

We care currently in negotiations with a number of venues, sponsors and national / international guests to host this event in October / November 2010. As with all events of this magnitude we have begun working hard now on it’s inception andwithin the next couple of weeks we should be able to bring to you the where, who, what and when.

The why has become evident.
